6 January 1938, Lahore. Khushtar Girami alias Ram Rakha Mal Chadda published the first issue of Beeswin Sadi on his son Krishan Chadda’s birthday. The Urdu journal soon became one of the most widely read ones in the country. After Partition, the Chaddas moved to Delhi. By then Chadda was selling 40, 000 copies of every issue, publishing writers like Balwant Singh, Raja Mehndi Ali Khan, Amrita Pritam, Krishan Chander, Khushwant Singh and Sahir Ludhianvi. In the 1960s, Krishan Chadda suggested to his father that to widen the journal's circle of influence it was imperative that they publish it in Hindi and Nai Sadi came into beingand immediately captured the imagination of writers and readers alike. This anthology is a selection of stories published in Nai Sadi over decades. Replete with artwork picked up from old issues, it is also Krishan Chadda's daughter's tribute to her father and fans of the magazine.
