His ideas on education highlight the relationship between power and education. They recognise the difference between education as a cultural value and education related to the pursuit of power, whether in the case of capitalist society or tradional Chinese society or in the context of German society. The ideas continue to be relevant in the case of Indian society in the 21st century too.
